2006 Natural Yankee Classic- Newburyport, MA

Newburyport, MA July 29, 2006

Maximum Nutrition Centers (www.maxnut.com) owners, Joel and Justin Napolitano teamed up with Matt Shepley to produce the 2nd annual OCB Natural Yankee Classic. The show brought 36 competitors and a jam-packed lively audience. Competitors were treated to gift bags of supplement samples and shirts and previous ANBC National Chairman and Natural Yankee Classic promoter Bob Gormley served as head judge and Master of Ceremonies.

The New England area has a reputation for good draws in female bodybuilding, and this show was no exception. Kimberly Audette, decked out in high-heeled black boots, black cowboy hat and long dressy black gloves, captivated the crowd with a seductive routine. The blonde bombshell’s great upper back and calves combined with a perfect tan and shapely hamstrings helped make for heated competition. Cathy Anastasio’s hips helped set off her striking and artful symmetry. Good mid-back thickness and impressive inner calves and shoulders accented her physique. Lyn Santopadre’s tan was right on, giving her a healthy glowing appearance. Her front double biceps looked incredible and her upper back showed both good development and lots of detail. The ripped to shreds upper body and great upper back of Cheryl Davis would prevail in the category though. She had striations everywhere it seemed, and it all looked polished under her perfectly bronzed tan.

In the men’s bodybuilding Michael Chagnon showed impressive full and round shoulders and arms and had excellent upper body hardness. Albert Gaccione’s crisp hardness and cuts gave both the Novice and Overall winners a tough time. Evan McCracken claimed the Novice division overall title over Gaccione in his first show. He had balanced symmetry and showed muscle separation from head to toe. Christopher Zangari was the one to walk away with the Open overall title. Muscle maturity was in his favor against McCracken for the overall. Zangari’s thickness along with impressive definition overcame McCracken’s challenge.

In the Figure category Pam Janco showed off a solid and tanned physique with full arms and great abs. Julie Costa’s physique possessed pleasing curvature and a warming smile and the way she carried herself showed her confidence. Susan Pasqual had dynamite abs and looked stunning in her side poses, where they really stood out. Marina Fabrizio showed a nicely trained, toned and symmetrical look. Jennine Lesica had super definition accenting her lines and she commanded the stage with a nice sway when walking toward the audience. Kristin Knights’ capped shoulders and shapely legs led her to the Novice overall title. The stunning blonde also claimed her class in the Open division.

Jill Forgitano and Sara Morin were a couple of the standouts in the figure category. Forgitano showed impressive lat width in her rear stances. Her balanced and tanned physique showed pleasing lines of detail and shape and she carried herself well on stage. Morin also showed an impressive back. She worked the crowd with a sexy and confident strut. Her poses were highlighted with abs that drew attention. In the end Morin moved on to claim the Open overall title. She seemed to have a little more muscle fullness from head to toe, which may have been a factor that swayed the judges.

2006 Ms. Fitness Yankee Classic

The July 29th Newburyport, Mass. Ms. Fitness Yankee Classic included the inspirational Dottie Lessard-O’Conner.  O’Conner is the recipient of a kidney and double lung transplant.   She also has cystic fibrosis. Her feats of strength and ability to overcome all her obstacles proved awe-inspiring. Blonde Amy Kasden looked stunning in her peach evening attire as well as in her pink routine outfit, and she performed an impressive array of strength holds during her routine. Amy Nigrelli dazzled the audience, displaying her ballet background with a number of flowing leaps and spins. Jackie Fontane became the new Ms. Fitness Yankee Classic. She showed her strength by performing an array of plange variations.  In one in particular she even rotated her body counterclockwise, showing remarkable strength and balance. She also performed a handstand and alternated back and forth between her left and right arms holding herself in the upright position on only one arm.  Fontane also possesses a toned, firm and balanced physique with nice curves.
